Shakespeare published his first every written play in 1594.  The name of the play is called Henry VI, part 2.  Not only did Shakespeare write 37 plays, he also wrote sonnets.  Shakespeare wrote histories (King John and Henry V), comedies (A Midsummer Night’s Dream and As You Like It), tragedies (Hamlet and Julius Caesar), romances (The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet) and tragicomedies (The Winter’s Tale and Macbeth).  In a Shakespearean comedy there is a happy ending but in a Shakespearean tragedy there isn’t a happy ending.  Even though Shakespeare wrote his plays a long time ago, his plays are still performed in theatres now.
