In 1594, Shakespeare joined The Lord Chamberlain’s Men theatre company.  The theatre company changed their name to The King’s Men because they received a royal patent from King James VI.  After spending 5 years in the theatre group, he saved enough money to buy a share in The Globe Theatre.  Female wasn’t allowed to perform on stage during that time so men played female roles.  Even though Shakespeare's plays are also performed in other theatres, The Globe Theatre was known to have the best stage works.  Shakespeare's four great tragedies were also performed in The Globe Theatre.  It was built in 1599 by his most trusted associates.  The theatre can hold between 2000 and 3000 people in it.
